Endurance Saddles as the name suggest are built for endurance, riding in competition over long distances puts special demands on the saddle for the rider and equally as importantly for the the horse.

An endurance saddle needs to provide a comfortable seat for the rider but also it should allow free movement for the horse.

Endurance saddles can be built on the english design or the more common western style. Many riders are now turning to the various treeless saddles because of the greater flexibility for the horse.

The saddle often has no horn, letting the rider stoop low over the horses neck to get under overhanging branches etc., the skirts are usually pared down to reduce weight and to let the horse get rid of excess heat more easily.

Lightweight with generous stirrups the endurance saddle is a product of it's sport.
