Roping Saddles
Roping saddles are the big, tough saddles built for catching and roping cattle.
They are built hard to withstand the stresses that they will be placed under when dallying, or tying off a six hundred pound steer.
In this situation you dont want the steer to be pulling your saddle to pieces from under you.
The cantle will be lower allowing the cowboy to be able to leave the saddle quickly and the horn must be robust enough to hold that steer.
The fenders and stirrups will normaly be a little forward so you can use your leg muscles effectively.
More leather is used and the saddle will be a fairly heavy piece of tack.
